I think we all feel the same way....where has 2012 gone? This year has been a good one for Bill and me. We started the year in Arizona, then to Yellowstone for the summer, and then our crazy cross-country pop-up trip, and finally back to Arizona. We worked hard and played hard and remained healthy...which is a good thing.
We are looking forward to 2013. Each new year is a gift, and it is always exciting to see how it unfolds. I've been in touch with the folks in Yellowstone, so we will be going back. I don't have the particulars yet, but knowing we are going back is good enough right now.
Bill has made a change for 2013. We have been hughes.net subscribers since 2006 and have been very pleased with it. With the satellite dish, we are able to get internet anywhere. Well, the hughes dish is no more. We now have a Verizon mi-fi.
Like I said, we have been pleased with hughes, but recently we began to have issues. Bill is a super trouble-shooter, and when he couldn't get it figured out, he called customer support. While they were helpful, they really couldn't figure it out either. In their defense, the issues we were having were intermittent, and when the hughes folks checked our system, it all checked OK...well, of course it did. : )
So, after much research, we went with the Verizon mi-fi, and so far so good. Here in Benson, we are in a 4G area, and the speed is terrific. In Yellowstone, if we are back at Canyon, we will be in a 3G area. Last year, co-workers had a Verizon mi-fi, and they were happy with how it worked...after adding an external antenna.
So, yesterday, Bill took down all of the hughes equipment...the satellite dish outside, and the equipment inside...modem, etc. Now, we just have this small black box with a blinking green light sitting on our table.
We don't have any big plans for tonight. I will be trying a new manicotti recipe for dinner, and of course tomorrow will be black eye peas, collard greens, pork roast and cornbread.
Finally, I want to thank all of you who follow along with us throughout the year. I'm still amazed that people actually read what I write. I'll try to keep it interesting.....
Happy New Year!!!

Hope your trade for the lots of equipment to the little bit of equipment continues to work out for you. We have been pretty happy with our verizon although the 5G limit is a stretch for us.
