An Unexpected Day Off & Good News

Normally, I work Wednesdays through Saturdays at Kartchner Caverns State Park.  You can imagine my surprise when I got my new schedule on Wednesday, and it showed I was off today.  Yes, I was surprised, but not disappointed.  A frigid cold front is supposed to move in tonight, so Bill and I took advantage of a decent weather day and headed to Saguaro National Park in Tucson.

There are two sections of the park...Saguaro East-Rincon Mountain District and Saguaro West-Tucson Mountain District.  Since we had never visited the West district, we headed that way.
By the time we reached the Visitor Center, it had warmed up to about 61, and the sun was out, although we could see the clouds in the distance.  After picking up the park map and newspaper, we headed to the Scenic Bajada Loop Drive.  We did a few of the short hikes along the drive.

One of the hikes, Signal Hill, led us to Hohokam petroglyphs, which was pretty cool.

By this time, the wind was picking up and the clouds were moving in, so we decided to head back.  After a stop at Costco, we were back in Benson before the bad weather moved in.

Oh...the good news???  It's official...we are headed back to Yellowstone!  I will once again start the season by training the Guest Service Agents and then move on to Campground Manager at Canyon Campground.  Bill has some pre-season things in the works, but he will definitely be a GSA at Canyon CampgroundThree months from tomorrow, I'll be checking in with Human Resources.  Can't wait!
