An Afternoon Drive

Yesterday afternoon, Bill and I actually had some time off together.  We decided to take a drive through Hayden Valley and see what we could see.

This grizzly is still dining on a carcass that floated down the Yellowstone River and got stuck on a sandbar.  We watched him for a few minutes, while he was busy chasing ravens away from his dinner.  Apparently, he wasn't in the mood to share.
We saw lots of Sandhill Cranes and other fowl in and around the Yellowstone River.

Although we've seen Yellowstone with more snow, the amount this year is still impressive.

And last, but not least, here is the view from our back window.  Happy to have clear blue skies today!

  2. Sure is beautiful with all the snow. The quiet must be amazing. Because it won't be long before the masses arrive:) Great find of the grizzly having dinner:)
